Favia Coral Care:

Favia is a species of brain coral that comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns. These are quite easy to care for, and we recommend them as a beginner LPS coral.

Lighting- Favia can tolerate a wide range of lighting, but we tend to keep them in lower to moderate light, around 60-125 PAR. If acclimating to higher light, we recommend doing this very slowly.

Flow- To keep this coral open and puffy, a lower flow is recommended.

Aggression- Favia does send out long sweeper tentacles at night, making them a more aggressive coral. Keep an eye on the corals within a few inches of your Favia, as sometimes they can start stinging.

Feeding- Favia generally loves to be fed, and its larger polyps will take food all the way up to Mysis in size. It's best to feed Favia at night when its feeding tentacles are extended. Feeding will help speed up their growth rate.

Growth- Favia is slower growing than its cousin, Favites, but still can have quite noticeable growth within a few months. The bigger the head, the slower it grows.
