One of the most unique and quirky fish in the aquarium trade, the Longhorn Cowfish is a favorite at The Coral Crib! When it comes to fish with personality, there are few that match that of the Longhorn Cowfish. These fish will follow their owner around the tank waiting to be fed. They do grow to be quite large, but from personal experience, they do not grow quickly.

Cowfish and Boxfish are known for their ostracitoxin that they secrete when stressed. While this species can secrete this, we believe their ability to take out an entire tank is wildly exaggerated. Never have we lost fish because of the stress of a Longhorn Cowfish.

Cowfish do best on a varied diet of frozen food and dried seaweed. Until they reach larger sizes, we recommend keeping them in lower flow environments, as they are not very strong swimmers and quite clumsy!
